Christchurch's Newest and Biggest Hotel Opens Doors
Accommodation in Christchurch has been boosted with the city's newest and largest hotel opening its doors to guests. Designed by Christchurch based Dalman Architecture, the 264-room Breakfree on Cashel makes a bold statement in the heart of the city.
The hub of the hotel, the lobby off Cashel Street also serves as the reception, lounge, bar and restaurant. Its design showcases recycled timber salvaged from structures such as the old stands at the iconic Lancaster Park stadium that had to be demolished following the earthquakes. The hotel's General Manager Graeme Back has said that it adds vital room numbers to Christchurch's accommodation offering, for both leisure and business travellers. The hotel, which employs 80 staff, has a Grade A seismic rating and incorporates some of the latest smart technology. ![]() These include high-definition and interactive digital entertainment systems such as the ability for guests to mirror their smart phone on the TV screen for social media interaction. Complimentary wireless key boards are also available for loan from reception and there are plans for self-check-in kiosks to be implemented in late 2015. This latest accommodation option is close to the Cashel Mall with many exciting projects underway in the area. The $140 million retail precinct, ‘The Crossing’ is due to open in October 2016, occupying a hectare of land. Featuring a glass bubble facade, the unique development will include shops, offices, cafes, bars and car-parking around a network of laneways and air-bridges. The new sports stadium and the Convention Centre are also planned for the future. At Westside Motor Lodge, you'll also be perfectly located for easy access to many of Christchurch's key places, from the exciting central city developments to the Antarctic Centre, Canterbury University and the Addington and Riccarton Racecourses. We look forward to providing you with a warm welcome, professional service and modern, comfortable Christchurch accommodation. |
